Hassan II Mosque, the crowing achivement of King Hassan II, cost more than half a billion dollars and was paid for largely by public subscription. It can hold 25,000 worshippers inside and 80,000 more in the courtyards and squares around it. Large enough to house Paris' Notre Dame or Rome's St Peter's, it is one of the very few Islamic religious buildings open to non-Muslims.
